Atelier Ace Launches a New, Minimalist Hotel Concept

Declared an “Experiment in Essentialism” on their appropriately minimalist website, the creative team behind the Ace Hotel Group has announced plans for “Sister City,” another boutique hotel concept making its way to the Bowery in New York City in the Fall of 2018

So what can we expect from this “Experiment in Essentialism”? According to the brief description on their website, the design of the hotel will be inspired by Finnish saunas, Japanese bento boxes, ancient rock-cut cliff dwellings and John Cage’s 4’33”, a composition which bases its key structural elements around silence.

The hotel will cater to the modern traveler whose rooms will be equipped with only what is needed rather than unnecessary ornamentation. Inspired by this concept, we pulled some of our favorite images that exemplify this philosophy in anticipation of the boutique hotel’s fall debut. Enjoy!
